School Overview
Broad Ripple Middle School will be an authorized IB World School. As an IB school, we are committed to fostering a student-centered approach with an international perspective, focused on developing students’ critical thinking and social emotional skills. Our program of study offers opportunities for action, service, leadership, language learning, and rigorous objectives to prepare students for high school and post secondary. We provide experiences in which students can be contributors to society as agents of change while becoming global minded citizens. We are an inclusive environment to support the needs of each scholar; offering Intensive Intervention, Life Skills, Arches, and Autism (Nest) programming.

IB Middle Years Programming: Students are required to take a course in each of eight subject areas – language acquisition, language and literature, individuals and societies, sciences, mathematics, arts, physical and health education and design. Courses are developed using the IB’s unit-planning framework. This structure requires teachers and planning teams to develop a guiding inquiry question; design formative and summative assessments; identify key related concepts that link together courses; and implement writing and analysis across all subject areas.
Art and music options are offered to students at all IPS schools. At the middle school level, arts are a core requirement of IB curriculum and integrated into STEM programming.
